Red Elephants to be honored with reception and parade

GAINESVILLE - The 2012 Gainesville High School football team, who last Saturday won the Region AAAAA state football championship, will be honored with a parade and reception hosted by the Gainesville City School System.

The celebration will take place on Wednesday, January 30th, 2013, with the parade kicking off the action.

The Red Elephants will leave the GHS campus at 3:45 p.m. and travel in a parade to the Gainesville Civic Center, where the reception will follow from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

A "Ring of Champions" salute to the team is also being planned, and all alumni players, students, fans and community members are being welcomed to participate.

All those who sign up for the "Ring of Champions" ceremony will participate in a formal ring presentation next March.

Information on all these events can be found at the Gainesville City Schools website.
